How Our Community Leads with Inclusivity, Belonging, and Storytelling

Our mission is to provide welcoming and inclusive spaces where women and non-binary people can show up authentically in pursuit of their personal and professional growth.

At the core of our belief is the recognition that everyone is unique, each with a compelling story to tell. We actively foster the art of storytelling, creating safe spaces that encourage our members to share their stories, learn from one another, and collectively contribute to our diverse community.

Our values are…Welcoming, Inclusivity, Growth, Impact, Collaborative, Authenticity

"Throughout my career, I struggled to find professional development resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities that were inexpensive and easy to access. I’ve always wished I had a group of women, outside of my organization, to seek advice from, share stories with, and exchange knowledge.”

— Marilynn Joyner, Founder & CEO

Marilynn Joyner started Her Workplace to provide safe and inclusive spaces, both in-person and digitally, to share stories, exchange knowledge, and build long-lasting relationships. Throughout her career in the male-dominated industry of commercial real estate, Marilynn struggled to find easy access to career resources and networking opportunities outside of her organization. This challenge ignited her passion to build Her Workplace in order to better support women and non-binary people in the workplace.

Marilynn has spent over 10 years in commercial real estate brokerage working for top firms JLL and CBRE. She’s represented Fortune 500 companies along with start-ups and coworking operators including Convene and The Wing.

After completing her MBA at both Columbia Business School and London Business School and her Masters in Real Estate from Georgetown University, she’s embarked on creating Her Workplace to bring people together to foster community all while capitalizing on the real estate market.
